Ahead of the Africa Nations cup to take place in Cote D’Ivoire in January 2024, the captain of the indomitable lions of Cameroon Vincent Aboubakar has revealed plans of Cameroon’s pre-AFCON activities.

Guest on Talents D’Afrique, a program on Canal, the Besiktas striker disclosed that Cameroon will have the obligation to do better than the last edition which they hosted.
Cameroon finished 3rd in the last edition after beating Burkina Faso. Vincent Aboubakar reveals the strategy that he and his teammates will do to do better.

‘When we will meet in camp, we the old players will try to create strong links among ourselves. It is these links that will permit us enter the competition with plenty of determination”, he said.

“When we go for a competition, we have a different mentality and this helps us and teammates to know that when we enter a competition, we remain focus on our objective of going as far as possible”, he added.

Meanwhile, the head coach of the Indomitable lions of Cameroon Rigobert Song is expected to submit a shortlist of more than 50 players to the Confederation of African Football, CAF, by December 14, 2023, before the final list of 23 + 4 players to take part in the tournament.

Vincent Aboubakar and Cameroon have been drawn in Group C alongside Senegal, Gambia and Guinea.

It should be noted that Cameroon gained qualification to the January football jamboree on the last day of qualifiers in Garoua against Burundi.

The indomitable lions of Cameroon won their first ever AFCON trophy in Cote D’Ivoire in 1984.
