USPA Awards: Phionah Nabbumba crowned best women’s player

The Uganda Sports Press Association ( USPA) has officially declared Crested Cranes midfielder Phionah Nabbumba as the best women’s player for the year 2022.

This follows controversy made by the public as the award was initially given to Kampala Queens forward Hassifa Nassuna.

In a press notice released via their social media pages ,USPA clarified on the change.

“The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA ) Executive would like to clarify a genuine oversight with Kampala Queens WFC player Hasifah Nassuna named women’s player of the Year ,2022, instead of Phionah Nabbumba ”

“We want to inform the public that Nabbumba is the USPA Player of the Year, 2022 and that earlier declaration infavour of Nassuna is null.”

Nabbumba guided She Corporate to their first league title last season with five goals and eight assists.She was named the MVP that season following a tremendous performance.

She also played a considerable role as She Corporate reached the final of the CECAFA Women Champions league Zonal Qualifiers scoring six goals and five assists.

Nabbumba also won the Crested Cranes CECAFA Women maiden championship ,took part in WAFCON that was hosted in Morocco.

The talented player maker currently trades for Danish side Boldkubben af 1893.
