Central Africa Republic have sent him Cameroon parking from the race to the 2023 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations following their 1-0 victory over the baby Lions this Wednesday in Brazaville.

On the back of consecutive draws against Congo Republic and DR Congo, Cameroon entered the final group game in need of maximum points to qualify as one of two teams from central Africa.

However, coach Yvan Kenmoe’s team lost 0-1, courtesy an early second half goal from Juvenal Steven Pougui who scored his first goal of the competition.

The defeat means Cameroon who defeated the same opponent to win the last edition of the tournament in December 2020 finish the competition with two points, which is not sufficient to earn qualification.

Though DR Congo and Congo Republic clash tonight but the former will join Central African Republic in the AFCON early next year in Egypt.

Cameroon who reached the quarter-final of the last African cup of Nations will miss the next edition of the tournament.
