UNIFFAC (Central Africa) Women’s Champions League holders, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) shrugged off their opening match 3-2 loss to Huracanes FC with their first win of the 2023 campaign.

The Congolese champions defeated Epah Ngamba 2-0 to move to the top of the log on Monday.

As early as the sixth minute TP Mazembe scored the first goal of the encounter as a defensive mistake after a cross from the left wing led to Dishika Esther’s opener.

With the first half rounding up, the host team were not done with scoring as Lagoali Kreto made it 2-0 in the additional minutes of the first half.

The scoreline remained the same throughout the second half as the holders brightened their resolve to retain the title which will guarantee a place in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast.

The team leapfrogged Huracanes at the top of the log with three points after playing a game more than Huracanes.

Huracanes and Epah Ngamba will face off on September 14 in the next game.

Malabo Kings and TP Mazembe represented UNIFFAC at the 2021 and 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt and Morocco respectively.
