Uganda , failed to make it to the AFCON finals for the second consecutive time in a row despite registering a 2-0 victory against Niger on Thursday night.

Coming into the final game , the East African giants needed maximum points to boost their chances of qualification.

Two first half goals from defender Aziz kayondo and Joseph Ochaya nearly got the job done for Micho’s side in Marrakech.

Uganda’s fate to secure the ticket , aligned with the result from the Algeria-Tanzania clash in Group F.

Playing in what seemed the game of their lives , the Taifa Stars of Tanzania picked an important point against the Desert foxes away in Annaba.

Tanzania moved to 8 points , one behind third placed neighbors Uganda.

This was the third time Tanzania reaching the continental finals after previous attempts in 1980 and 2019.
