It all ended at the Cairo International stadium for the young Pharaoh of Egypt. The team has been given a four nil thrashing by Senegal to send them out of their own U20 Africa cup of nations tournament.

Pape Diop scored a hat-trick alongside Ibou Sane’s goal to completely sink the host’s dreams of qualifying amongst the best 3rd.

Mahmoud Gaber’s Young Pharaohs had come into the game with so much pressure seeing that they were third in the group with only one points.

The teams decision to start with Mozambique instead of Senegal as it should have been had come to hunt them with their fate depended on their performance against dreaded Senegal.

The first half was easily managed by the host with Khaled Awad coming close to score their first goal of the tournament. His expectations were however cut short as goalkeeper Landing Badji made the appropriate save to wade the danger off.

The first-half ended in a virgin draw, preparing no one of the four nil thumping to come for Ahmed Abdelrehim and team .

With just 14 minutes into the second half, Pape Diop opened scores through a fantastic header surprising Mostafa Makhlouf.

While Egypt struggled to level scores, Ibou Sane came back ten minutes later to use Omar Fayed back pass to his keeper to make it two for Senegal.

The 73th and 76th came with worst news as the frustrated Pharaohs side conceeded their third and fourth goal courtesy Pape Demba Diop.

Egypt’s counter attack efforts after this were all thwarted not only by Senegal’s defense but their lack of motivation moving forward.

Just like in Zambia in 2017, Egypt failed to make it pass the first round, settling for their one point gotten at the start of the tournament. So far the team has one of the worst performances in this edition conceding five goals and scoring none.

Senegal on her path finished first with nine points, scoring eight goals and keeping three clean sheet.
