Nigeria’s national U-20 team earned its first win of the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 1-0 win over host, Egypt in both sides’ second group game.

Flying Eagles had lost its first group game 1-0 to Senegal while Egypt played out a 0-0 draw with Mozambique.

Solomon Alagbaka in the 71st minute headed in Aminu Mohammed’s corner kick to score Ladan Bosso’s side-winning goal.

Agbalaka played for Broadcity FC in The Creative Championship League (TCC League) in Nigeria and also featured for MFM FM last season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

He won the man of the match award for his goal at the end of the match.

The win lifted Nigeria to the second position in Group A with three points, three points behind Senegal.

Senegal had earlier defeated Mozambique 3-0 to qualify for the quarter-final.

Nigeria will next face Mozambique in its last group games.
