Transfers: Former Black Stars head coach Avram Grant signs for Zambia

67-year-old Israeli born Avram Grant, former head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, has penned a two year deal with the Zambian Football Association on Thursday, December 22 , 2022 as the Chipolopo’s new head coach.

Upon penning the two year deal in Lusaka on Thursday, the former Maccabi Haifa Maccabi Tel Aviv gaffer, has as immediate challenge to qualify Gambia for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in March.

Grant led Ghana to the 2015 AFCON final and was defeated by Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.

Grant’s time in England was most notable for leading Chelsea to the 2008 Champions League final, which they lost on penalties against Manchester United.

He was the Israeli’s national football head coach in 2002-2006 and took Maccabi Haifa Maccabi Tel Aviv to the national league championships twice.

His last coaching experience was in 2018,with the Indian side, North East United, after three years of coaching the Black Stars.
