60 year-old Bosnian Vladimir Petkovic has officially taken the helm of affairs, as head coach of the Algerian Senior Men’s National Football team.
The former Girondins de Bordeaux tactician,took his engagement on Thursday 29,with the Algerian Federation officials.
He takes over from Djamel Belmadi, after a dismal performance in the just ended 34th edition of the Total Energies African Nations Cup.Likewise his poor relationship with some players of the Algerian football squad.
Vladimir Petkovic is winner of the Italian Cup, with Lazio in 2013.The Sarajevo native, holds one of his most brilliant performance , as head coach of the Swiss National Men’s football team, during the 2014 World Cup.
As well as in 2020 Euro, where he finished quarter-finalist.
Vladimir Petkovic’s contract is expected to run till 2026.He has as main objective to take the Algerian side to the semifinals of the 2025 Moroccan AFCON. Likewise to the eighth finals of the 2026 World Cup.
His first outing is scheduled for March 22,in a friendly game against Bolivia. And on March 26,against South African.
