Tim Shalom Nakoma Ngam scored the lone goal to help home side Authentic Ladies beat visiting Amazon FAP ladies by 1-0 on Saturday on match day seven of the 2023/24 Guinness Super League championship.
The skipper’s third goal of the season after 14 minutes at the Mbappe Leppe stadium was all it took for coach Hassan Ibrahim’s team to edge FAP and return to winning ways after dropping points in their two previous outings.
Shalom that counted two goals in the build up to the game, but had not scored in her last three outings beat the defensive track set up by coach Josephine Ndoumou Mike to set her side on their way to the crucial win.
Though the game had a number of scoring opportunities, there wasn’t a goal to show for the huge efforts of the players after the opener.
Some of the best chances of the afternoon fell to the home side, especially Kiki Meva at the sharp point of the Authentic attack but she couldn’t add to her tally of three goals this campaign.
The Authentic Ladies backline guided by experienced full-back Chahkes Fukuin Odette were at their best to help goalkeeper Ngole Chelsea secure a clean sheet in the industrious afternoon for Wanki Rita, Diane Tchanko and co.
The 1-0 win takes Authentic’s point tally to 11 points, which lifts them to the third spot behind FC Ebolowa and Louves Minprof of Yaounde.
