Terem Moffi has been called up to replace Victor Boniface in the Super Eagles of Nigeria squad ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
On January 3, 2024, Alhassan Yusuf was called up to replace the injured Wilfred Ndidi.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Babafemi Raji, the Super Eagles team’s media officer announced that the OGC Nice forward will replace Victor Boniface.
Moffi’s non-inclusion in Jose Peseiro’s initial 25-man list means that his participation in Cote D’Ivoire is subject to the approval of his club and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“Victor Boniface is out and Terem Moffi is in his place, pending approval of CAF and concurrence of his Club,” Raji said.
Kick442.com reported early Tuesday morning that the 23-year-old Victor Boniface missed the Super Eagles friendlies against Al Gharib and Guinea due to the injury.
The 34th edition of the African football showpiece is slated to kick off on January 13, 2024, in Cote D’Ivoire.
Nigeria is drawn in Group A alongside the host nation, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
