Newcomers, Istanbul FA have progressed to the next phase of the mini interpoles following a 2-1 win over Tiko United FC, courtesy of goals from Kans Junior and Robert Koneyi in the first half the game staged at the Molyko Omnisport stadium.

It was Bache Manfred, highest goal scorer for the 2020/21 football season with EEMSA who scored the lone consolatory goal shortly after the lead was taken by the academicians.

Kans Junior took advantage of an absent minded backline to put Istanbul ahead at the 22nd minute

Nine minutes later, Bache Manfred leveled scores, firing a smart shot to outsmart goalkeeper Effoe Veseke.

The Academicians were a force to reckon with, giving Tiko United attackers a tough time getting the opportunity to strike again. Bache Manfred and Patrick Kuntz squandered on several occasions.

The experience goalkeeper Ebere Festus denied Atube Thierry’s face a face chance of giving Istanbul the lead once again.

For the second time in the first segment, Tiko United were made to pay for their defense weaknesses when Robert Koneyi smartly ran pass Adrian Etuge and NKebe Ferdinand to meet goalkeeper Ebere Festus one on one, beat him pass and sent in the ball that hit the post before reaching its target area.

Coach Kengo Raymond brought in midfield sensation Yannick Bareng Ako and Prince Iko in place of Patrick and Jean Broline who weren’t very engaged in this encounter compared to the previous matches.

Captain Ekene Livinus’ several crosses weren’t enough to fetch goals for the Samba boys who seemed helpless in the last minutes of play.

Istanbul exhibited class and much knowledge on the pitch against an opponent side who were much smarter and engaged in this encounter, to progress to the next stage of this regional playoffs as winner of match number two this Saturday.

The new comers just like Njalla Quan in the first game, have eliminated the 2009 Elite One Champions, causing them to try again next season like it was last season.
