Marly Confidence Gah scored a first half brace and was named woman of the Guinnessico as 2022/23 Guinness Super League title chasing Eclair of Sa’a dispatched 2019 champions Louves Minproff by 4-0 this Wednesday in the top match of the Cameroon Women’s top-flight championship.
The delayed game of the Guinness bankrolled competition produced arguably the best spectacle of match day 15, exciting the crowd that turn out at the Omnisport Annex stadium in Yaounde.
Eclair responded to their match day 14 defeat in style by beating Louves to reduce the gap on leaders Lekie to just three points.
Gah, Eliane Bibout and Marie Victoire Ngono dismantled coach Anong Bernatte’s Louves within the opening 45 minutes as they each found the back of the net.
The Guinnessico got off to the worse possible start for the Louves as they conceded in the fourth minute. Gah capitalized on some very poor defensive organization to make it 1-0.
It was soon 2-0 when lethal finisher Bibout directed home a fine cross into the box after 29 minutes.
The scorers for Eclair seemed to be queueing to make the most of Louves’ poor defensive organisation. Ngono added her name on the score sheet just ten minutes after Bibout – concluding a neat passage of play to get the third without reply for the girls from Sa’a.
Eclair added a fourth in added time through Gah who completed her brace before the half time whistle.
Coach Francis Koloko’s Eclair took the 4-0 advantage to the break as they had dominated Louves in all aspects of the game.
Louves returned for the second segment with damage limitation plans that worked perfectly as they didn’t concede in the second segment, thus leaving the final score as 4-0 in favour of the aspiring champions.
The win takes Eclair’s tally to 35 points from 15 games, three points behind leaders Lekie Filles as the championship enters the business end.
