Amazone FAP Ladies came from behind to hold ambitious AS Fortuna Ladies to a 1-1 draw in a delayed match day 15 fixture of the 2022/23 Guinness Super League played this Wednesday at the Omnisport Annex Stadium.

Fortuna was the better side in most of the opening 45 minutes though they lacked the precision to in the final third to make the most of their chances.

Catherine Mbengono finally broke the deadlock for AS Fortuna in bonus time of the first half. The Cameroon international received a well-worked on the edge of the area, beat two defenders before driving it home to make it 1-0. The goal ended her long goal drought this season this season and created the feel of another Fortuna upset in the making.

Fortuna conserved the advantage till the break though FAP had and missed a late chance in the second minute of added time.

Coach Josephine Ndoumou pep-talked the FAP girls during the break and they returned as a way better side.

They spent a much of the early stages of the second segment in the Fortuna half with Buh Confidence’s trademark runs down the channels creating all sorts of difficulties for coach Jean Um’s team.

Linda Rostand Ngatchou equalized for the away side in the derby just after the hour mark. The forward capitalized on poor defending from Fortuna to make it 1-1.

Chances were few and far between in the last 30 minutes of regulation time as both sides played with more caution than zeal to get the winner.

The game ended in the parity score though it was an entertaining fixture that could have produced more goals.
