The indomitable lions’ gaffer is one of the coaches whose World Cup exploits came under so much pressure but his theories kept hopes alive.

Taking charge of the selection just after the #AFCON2021 with so much pressure to qualify for the World Cup came the man with the spirit of a lion.

Coach Song had to work with players groomed by a different gaffer within a short time to take on Algeria in the World Cup playoffs which could be termed a tough test of time.

At Japoma, with the hopes of a whole nation on his shoulders, Cameroon lost to the Belmaidi led side by 0-1 making the road to Qatar narrower.

With the battle of Blida prompted as last dance with one leg taking Cameroon down the drain of missing another World Cup came the “Theory of danger”.

“When you don’t know you are in danger, you are in real danger but when you know you are in danger, you are no longer in danger” stated coach Song in his theory.

Up in Blida Song instilled his playing days fighting spirit in the players and we saw Cameroon pull off one of the greatest comebacks and qualification stunts beating Algeria by 1-2. With 17seconds to go in Blida Kunde threw the ball to Fai who sent in a cross that found Ngadeu’s head and on landing Toko sent home a beauty that iced the hearts of Algerians lighting up all of Cameroon.

Cameroon now qualified for #Qatar2022 with Rigobert Song primed for this mythical but hope driven qualification.

Coming up to Qatar Song made a list with shock inclusions and exclusions but as fans Cameroonian had to eventually trust the process.

Cameroon faced Switzerland in the first game and lost but coach Song kept his calm though in pressure of seeking a first win in 20years at the world stage.

Cameroon came close against Serbia but spoils shared narrowed group stage break out chances but the battle for lions is never over until it’s over.

Coach Song with a never dying spirit encouraged his players urging Cameroonians to back them wholeheartedly for it was not over yet with a win over Brazil not impossible.

Watching coach Song run down the line with fulfillment and joy was the dream of every Cameroonian footballer as that master cross from NGOM met an efficient ABOUBAKAR who answered present.

Coach Song led Cameroon to beat Brazil in the World Cup group stage for the first time in 12 World Cups past.

Cameroon under Song scored the first goal against Brazil in this year’s World Cup and also stands first African team to beat Brazil in the World Cup.

Coach Song and his boys bow out of the World Cup as heroes with celebrations over the national territory showing satisfaction of all nationals.

Give the man Rigobert Song his flowers.
