On loan Cameroonian forward Karl Toko Ekambi provided the assist for the only goal Rennes scored in their 1-2 defeat away to OGC Nice on Saturday in match day 32 of the French League 1 championship.

Benjamin Beauriged benefitted from the first assist from the January 2023 acquired Cameroonian to make the score line 2-1 with 78 minutes on the clock, this after Gaetan Laborde and Nigeria’s Terem Moffi had put the host two-goals ahead at the Allian Riviera.

Toko replaced Arnaud Kalimuendo 21 with 21 minutes to go but but created a greater impact than the French man though Rennes failed to get something from the fixture.

Both sides cancelled each other throughout the first 45 minutes with chances few and far between but it was a more lively second segment with three goals.

Rennes are sixth in the Ligue 1 with 56 points from 34 games so far as they continue the push to qualify for European competition next season.

Toko, 30, has scored once and provided one assist in 13 Ligue 1 games for Rennes as he looks to repair his career after the troubles he faced in his last days at Lyon.

Aboubakar Vincent, Jean Pierre Nsame, plus a number of strikers were quite performant at their respective clubs over the weekend.
