Fans of Morocco’s biggest clubs Wydad and Raja all of Casablanca easily abandon their affinity to unite on the same front on the subject of AFCON 2025.

Morocco’s desire to host the continental showpiece knows no bounds. That hunger is strong enough to unite everlasting foes divided from birth.

In the streets of Casablanca on Monday morning Abdoul Brahim and Ahmed Abdel who are Wydad and Raja diehards respectively told kick442.com that it is time for Africa to come.

“The narrative is certainly different these days. Our national team is doing well. This provides an opportunity for us to welcome Africa. I don’t think we will have a better moment,” 37-year-old Ahmed Abdel – a professional driver who takes us around the city explained.

Most often in Morocco than not the Wydad fans group, who call themselves “Winners”, have been qualified by many as one of the most attractive and flamboyant in the World. They are unique and identify each other even at night.

Their singing on match days, their torchlight displays and fireworks bonds them and makes them identifiable even from a distance.

Wydad and Raja fans are divided by affinities which are manifested even in every day life.

Strangely, Abdoul Brahim identified Ahmed Abdel of Raja and took kick442.com to him.

The Raja faithful explained how it is a lifetime dream for him to watch his national team play the AFCON on home soil.

“It is part of the dreams I have not realized during my time in this game. I will really like to see the AFCON happen in Morocco.”

Morocco is contesting the rights to host AFCON 2025 with Algeria, Zambia plus the duo of Benin and Nigeria.

The tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Guinea but late last year, CAF withdrew the rights to seek a new and ready host given how close the start of the event is.
