Olympics pre-qualifying tournament : Cameroon dispatches Bahrain and Lebanon

The basketball lions of Cameroon, continue to sharpen their skills in a secluded camp, ahead of the Olympics pre-qualifying tournament to be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria between August 14 to 20.

The boys of Alfred Aboya have defeated Bahrain and Lebanon in a friendly hosted on monday, August 7 and Wednesday, August 9,2023.

Alnord Kome and teammates edged Bahrain 85 – 81, seeing off Lebanon by 109–99 points on Wednesday.

These sides may not be part of the pre-qualifying tournament, but their rich experience in other competitions will expose the team’s lapses to the technical staff.

Bahrain has been a regular at the FIBA Asia cup with eight appearances while the Lebanese have played on the highest stage FIBA world cup, four times.

Cameroon faces stiff competition in group B from DR Congo, Tunisia and Guinea.

They start their tournament on Tuesday, August 15 against Guinea, Play 2023 AFROCAN 5th place Tunisia on Wednesday before closing their group stage encounters with Evariste SHONGANYA’s DR Congo on Friday.

It’s worth mentioning that, only the winner of this tournament will compete in the 2023 Summer Olympics.
