Struggling MTN Elite One championship outfit PWD of Bamenda have appointed seasoned trainer, Olivier Nankam as their technical supervisor for the rest of the 2023/24 season.

President Pascal Abunde announced the decision this Saturday, March 31 as part of efforts to keep the side afloat amidst a difficult start to the MTN Elite One relegation playoffs so far.

PWD under the guidance of coach Anumewa Frankline have picked up just a point from their opening two games of this season’s playoffs and are faced with the risk of relegation should they fail to overturn their fortunes.

The acquisition of coach Nankam is expected to help the Abakwa Boys improve tactically to enhance obtention of better results in the remaining seven matches of the playoffs.

Having played and coached Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda, Nankam returns to the Northwest region at a time fans of the flagship club of the region just want the survival of the main club to restore their smiles after a season to forget.

PWD of Bamenda will face high-flying Union Sportive of Douala in their third playoffs game this Monday, hoping to finally get off the mark against a Nasara Gamakai side that has picked up six points from their opening two games of the mini championship.

The 2020 MTN Elite One champions are hoping to beat the drop and switch to another page after a devastating season during which they have had at least three different persons at the helm of the technical crew. The efforts of Bep Constantine, Dieudonne Nke and now Anumewa Frankline have failed to stir the club towards obtention of the desired results.

The Abakwa Boys have all of their six-year investment in the top-flight championship now reduced to the five games left in the relegation playoffs.
