Cameroon international Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, has penned a new deal with Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich, which will keep him at the club till June 2024.

The 33-year-old forward has been in scintillating form for the Bavarian giants, where he has scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 24 games in all competitions this season, currently the top scorer in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad alongside Jamal Musiala.

Choupo extending his stay in the German capital was long awaited, as he has been a key figure in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad.

Now an agreement has been reached by both parties and the former FC Schalke 04 talisman, has put pen to papper for a deal that will keep him at the Allianz Arena till the summer of 2024.

“I‘m super happy to be staying longer and continuing to have lots of fun with the club. I feel very much at home here. My family also feel at home in Munich. That’s a very important point for me. I’m obviously pleased I can help the team so much. I get on really well with the guys, we work hard on our goals. The competition is big, but when you want to be among the best, that’s part of it. It’s the only way you can win lots of titles. And we’ve still got big plans. The whole package is right at FC Bayern. There’s no reason to change anything,” Choupo-Moting said after completing formalities for the deal.

“We’re very pleased that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be staying with us for another year. Choupo is an artist on the ball and has performed really well in recent years. He helped us in the first half of this season to fill the gap we had at centre-forward. He’s done really well and backed up his performances in games this year. We’re glad to have him and be able to work with him until summer 2024,” said Bayern Munich’s board member, Hasan Salihamidzic.

The former Stoke city forward joined FC Bayern from Paris Saint-Germain in October 2020, initially on a one-year contract and made his debut for Bayern in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on 15 October and scored twice as the club defeated fifth division side 1. FC Düren. He has since made 82 appearances for Germany’s most successful club, scoring 33 goals. The striker has so far won the Bundesliga and DFL Supercup twice with Bayern (in 2021 and 2022), as well as the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup.

Choupo’s goal against Union Berlin last Sunday earn him a Bundesliga record, where he has now scored against all the teams taking part in this years German’s top tier championship.
