NWFL Premiership Week 6: Heartland earn first win, Bayelsa Queens concede first goal, Delta Queens drop point

Heartland Queens won its first game of the season as match week six of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership got underway on Wednesday across five centres.

Orji Chinwendu’s 40th-minute goal was enough to hand Heartland Queens a 1-0 win over Royal Queens in Warri.

Former Champions, Rivers Angels, and Delta Queens settled for a 0-0 draw ensuring that the latter drop points for the first time this season.

Naija Ratels forced holders, Bayelsa Queens to a 1-1 draw in Abuja.

Sunday Juliet’s header gave the visitors the lead before Agama Ziperekefeghe equalised for Naija Ratels in the 73rd minute.

Ageless Ijeoma Obi scored the winning goal as Adamawa Queens secured its third win of the campaign with a 1-0 triumph over Nasarawa Amazons.

Confluence Queens had to come from behind to earn a 2-1 win against FC Robo Queens.

Folashade Ijamilusi opened the scoring for the Lagos Landladies before two goals from Zainab Azeez in the 74th and 80th minute settled the duel in favour of the host.

Edo Queen’s match with Abia Angels in Benin City will take place on Thursday.

Delta Queens top Group A with 13 points ahead of Bayelsa Queens (11 points), Rivers Angels (8 points), and Naija Ratels FC (7 points).

Edo Queens top Group B with 12 points while Adamawa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels, and Confluence Queens all have seven points apiece.
