NWFL endorses Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup

The inaugural edition of the Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup have received a major boost and endorsement from the decision making body of women’s football in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) have endorsed the Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup (ICMC) scheduled to start on the 15th of December to 21st of December 2022 at Asaba, Delta state.

The league body said they wished the competition a hitch free one as they sent their highest sporting regards to the organizers of the competition.

In the letter dated 21st of November 2022, the NWFL said, “We present the warm compliments of the management and staff of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) to you.

“We are in receipt of your letter dated 29th October, 2022 on the above subject matter, we are pleased to inform you that the Management of the Nigeria Women Football League has endorsed the tournament which scheduled to hold on Thursday, December, 15th to Wednesday, 21 st December 2022.

“While wishing you a hitch free competition, please accept the expression of our highest sporting regards.

“Thank you.”

Despite the fact that, the competition is yet to start, it has started making waves across the country.

A total of 8 teams have been scheduled to take part in the competition which are, Delta Babes, Kwara Ladies, Fortress Ladies, Castmog FA, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens, Moje Queens, Imo Strikers Queens FC, and Anambra Angels.

The purpose of the competition is to eulogies the late Super Falcons player, Ifeanyi Chiejine who dedicated her life to promote the development of women’s football in Nigeria.
