With 157 games played in the Major League Soccer(MLS), Cameroons left-back Nouhou Ntolo has set a record for the most appearances by a defender in club history in the MLS.

The 26-year-old achieved this feat on Sunday, when his side saw off Vancouver 3-2 at the BC place stadium.

He replaces Chad Marshall, who previously held this record at 156 games played in the MLS, until Saturday, July 8,2023.

Nouhou has played in multiple positions since joining Sounders in 2017. He has been a kingpin in defence, helping the team win the 2019 MLS Cup, and the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

That is, in addition to being an MLS All-Star selection in 2021 and one of the Best XI for the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

In March 2023, the ex rainbow of Bamenda player extended his contract with the American side up to 2026.

At the international level, Tolo has over 20 caps for the senior national team. He was one of the most used players in the squad in the 2022 Africa cup of nations and also made appearances for the side in the just ended 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Tolo was laid off Song’s list against Mexico due to injury.
