North West Women’s 2nd Division Championship: Ita Mbong, Abakwa Girls begins new season in style

Ita Mbong FC of Nkambe and Abakwa Girls began the North West Women’s 2nd division championship with victory over Vision Sports and Kumbo Strikers Ladies in match day one of the championship.

In the first match played at GS Nibung, Nji Gracious scored the lone goal to hand all three points to Ita Mbong FC against former Guinness Super League side Vision Sports.

Ita Mbong missed two penalties in the match.

In the second match, last season join top scorer Fuh Rhoda scored a brace as her side Abakwa Girls recorded a two nil victory against the new comers Kumbo Strikers Ladies.

Vision Sports

The victory takes Abakwa Girls and Ita Mbong to the top of the table after match day one with 3 points each.

Vision Sports and Kumbo Strikers Ladies are yet to record a point.

Abakwa Girls

Last season, Ita Mbong emerged regional champions. However, they failed to qualify for the top tier women’s championship.

All four teams will be battling to bring back women’s elite football to the North West region.
