AS Fortuna of Mfou are nursing a precious jewel that could develop into one of the best defender in Cameroon in the nearest future.
18-year-old Ndong Fils paid back the club for their trust towards the end of last season with some outstanding performances explaining why he caught the attention of different national team coaches.
Recently Guy Feutchine, the coach of the Olympic Lions of Cameroon invited the strong sweeper to join the den as part of the squad preparing for the second round qualifiers tie against the Olympic Palancas Negras of Angola.
It is not the first time Ndong is camping with this category of the national team as he was a part of the team that was prepared for the 2022 Islamic Solidarity tournament that happened in Konya earlier this year.
Plays a bit like: Nicolas Nkoulou
When you think of Fils Ndong, think Nkoulou with the levelheadedness. At just 18, the teenager is already similar in both stature and physique to his mentor. That is some statement when you consider the 14-year age gap between the two but is also testament to the incredible physical maturity of this teenager.
The similarities don’t stop there, though, with Ndong developing into a fine footballer too. If he can pick up the quarter-back tendencies of Nkoulou, he will only get better and better with the ball at his feet.
Did you know?
While Ndong Fils has been capped at both U20 and Intermediate level for Cameroon, he first tasted international football at youth level with the Unde-20s last year.
Ndong found his break in professional football at AS Fortuna. He has spent two seasons at president Roger Noah’s club.
The boy whose career started at AS Fortuna of Mfou is going good and there is a likelihood that the 1M89 tall giant teenager be part of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defense in the years to come.
