Forces Armeés et Polices (FAP) of Yaoundé, are champions of both the men and women’s category of the National Volleyball championship in Cameroon following victory over Mayo Kani on Sunday, June 25.
The competition staged at Palais Polyvalent des sports saw FAP ladies outsmart Mayo 3-2. That is; 25-22,17-25,25-20,16-25,15-12 in the first segment.
Mayo failed still to dominate the return phase, causing the opponent to grab a 0-3 win. (18-25, 22-25, 9-25).
FAP men recorded a 3-1 win over Camsports in the first phase of the game, following a 27-25,19-25,25-19, 25-22 score line.
The last decisive half of the encounter almost saw a tie from both sides, but FAP were fortunate to pull the last minute surprises and eventually emerged victors.
The game finished on a 25-16,24-26,19-25,25-18,15-9 score line to crown FAP champion of Cameroon in this field of sports for the 11th time.
The African Volleyball Men’s championship finalist, won the Cameroon men’s volleyball cup in 1993, 2002,2003,2006,2007,and four times in a town from 2009-2013. They are 2013 finalist.
Meanwhile the club’s women category has won the competition a record five times; 1995, 1996 and 2005-2007. This becomes their sixth title.
This Yaoundé based sports club which came to existence in 1972 is making waves and leaving a mark in almost every sports domain in the country they participate at.
They are currently holders of the National basketball championship in Cameroon for the third time in a row.
