  • ISOHSA won their second game of the 2023/24 MTN Elite Two relegation playoff against Leopard in Mbouda
  • Agbor Clinton became the second player to score a brace for the club this season after Ikose Njuma

Agbor Tarkang Clinton scored his first brace in Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe colors this Thursday afternoon at the Mbouda Municipal stadium, ensuring the Limbe outfit came from a goal down to crush Leopards of Douala 4-1.

Clinton who joined ISOHSA in the mid-season window, lead scorer Ikose Njuma Conrad and substitute Ivan Yatchet Berthold were the scorers in the match day four clash, helping their club to a second victory in the playoffs.

ISOHSA came into the contest anticipating to be sharper in the final third having failed to take their chances in the previous match day while Leopard were hoping to finally get their campaign going after two defeats and a draw in their opening three games.

Coach Joseph Ndoko made two changes in reaction to the defeat against YAFOOT, bringing on Ghangle Rattensi in place of Simo Gedeon while Abianda Ghislaine Onguene replaced Ashu Kelvin Mbah after a shaky performance last Sunday.

Just like in the previous game, ISOHSA conceded in the first minute following a moment of indecision between defensive pair Tebug Kingsley and Ulrich Kouo.

Despite shipping in another first minute goal, ISOHSA steadily built from the back through the likes of Mbeng Joel and Ghangle to connect with Wilson Junior and Ashu Brice to directly feed Albert Tiku Egbe, Ikose Njuma and Agbor in the final third.

The first chance for the 2023 national interpools champions fell to Njuma but he failed to add to his seven goals this season as he headed narrowly wide.

ISOHSA took the game to the Douala outfit as they settled for the option of sucking pressure and breaking on the counter.

A neat one-two between Tiku and fellow forward Arrey Jefta met the former unmarked at the edge of the box, but he lost his bearings at the crucial moment.

Captain Ashu Brice could have leveled for ISOHSA just after the water break. A neat layoff into the path of the skipper saw him put his laces through the ball which took a wicked deflection and went narrowly wide.

As the pressure piled, the chances multiplied. A poor first touch from midfielder Ngange Wilson Jnr dispossessed him of a great ball he received with time and space.

ISOHSA were determined to even things and camped in the Leopards half while confiscating the ball.

Lightening full-back Mbeng Joel fed a low cross into the path of Njuma saw the forward direct it into the net to restore parity after 33 minutes.

The score remained unchanged till the interval, setting the stage for an exciting second segment.

A pair of assists from Njuma to fellow forward Agbor saw the game completely turned on its head as the latter scored a brace in six minutes to make it 3-1 after 69 minutes.

The script was quickly flipped courtesy of additional quality from the bench. Ghangle raced clear in the box, shrugging off the attention of three green shirts before picking a square pass. Yatchet who came on for captain Ashu Brice sealed the victory with the fourth of the afternoon after receiving a through ball from Ghangle.

Though substitutes Ngole Ediage, Njock Martinez and Ekene Zama showed flashes of brilliance in the final ten minutes they couldn’t deepen Leopards’ wounds.

The game ended on the 4-1, sanctioning a second victory for the side that narrowly missed the promotion playoffs.

The win plus other results takes ISOHSA’s points tally to seven and they climb up to third on the log, three points off co-leaders Unisport and YAFOOT with three games left.

ISOHSA will face Foncha Street FC on match day five while Leopards Sportif will clash FAP fresh from losing 1-2 against Foncha Street FC.

Going into that game, Njuma is the club’s best scorer with eight goals and chasing the golden boot with leaders just two goals better.
