The second phase of the MTN Elite One championship will begin on Sunday April 19, 2026 following the end of the first phase two weeks back which saw Unisport of Bafang finish first half of the season at the top of the MTN Elite One standing.
In a bid to defend their position, they will have to go against Aigle Royal of Menoua who remains unbeaten at home despite an inconsistent run of games where they have recorded just one win in their last five, losing four.
The clash of the titans will be experienced at the Amadou Ahidjo in Yaounde when defending champions Colombe sportive of Dja and Lobo lock horns with record champions, Coton sport of Garoua. The South doves, without head coach Richard Towa currently on suspension, are coming back on track, having won their last two games, overturning a poor start to the season and also boast of the strong defensive structure with just nine goals conceded 9 so far, the least by any team this season.
They will be aiming to make it a third consecutive victory against a side in David Pagou’s Coton Sport who have lost just two games away from home, all against teams in the top four.
The same venue will host AS fortuna of Mfou and Dynamo of Douala who recently experienced managerial change. Former Indomitable Lionesses coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck who took over from Simplice Soh, will oversee Douala’s lone Elite one representative in what will be his first task at the helm of the club.
At the Bamenda Proximity stadium, the highly anticipated Anglo-Saxon derby will see PWD of Bamenda take on Victoria United in what promises to be an exciting clash, following the controversies that erupted in the first leg of this encounter in Limbe. The Abakwa boys have turned the Bamenda Proximity stadium into a fortress as they haven’t lost any game on home turf since the start of the season. They have accumulated 17 points at home, the highest of any team. Victoria United on the other hand will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing Matchday 12 encounter against a 9-man Canon sportive of Yaounde which was thier third straight game without a win, after initially going six games without experiencing defeat.
At the Melong municipal stadium, Stade Renard will host Canon sportive of Yaoundé and the same venue will accommodate the clash between Aigle Royal du Mungo and Gazelle FA of Garoua.
Matchday 14 will conclude on Monday, April 20 with Fauve Azur beginning their relegation battle against Panthere Sportive of Nde.
