Cameroon international midfielder Monique Ngock has completed a move to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Washington Spirit, signing a three-year contract that will keep her at the club through the 2028 season.

The American club confirmed on Thursday that it had reached an agreement with French side FC Fleury 91 Cœur d’Essonne, with the deal involving a transfer fee for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Ngock, who began her football journey with Éclair FF de Sa’a and was born in Mfou, becomes the latest Cameroonian player to secure a move to one of the world’s leading women’s leagues.

Speaking after the transfer was announced, the midfielder said she was excited by the opportunity to continue her development in the United States.

“With the Spirit, I know I can grow into the best version of myself as a player. The impressive track record and culture created by the team and the staff has made the club a very attractive destination for me and I can’t wait to get started.”

Ngock arrives after an impressive campaign with Fleury 91, where she featured in 19 matches in France’s Première Ligue, scoring twice from midfield as the club secured a top-five finish.

Before joining Fleury, she spent three seasons at Stade de Reims, making 41 starts and playing a key role in the club’s promotion to the French top flight during her second season.

The move marks another significant milestone in Ngock’s career as she transitions from French football to the highly competitive NWSL, where she is expected to strengthen Washington Spirit’s midfield ahead of the second half of the season.

Ngock is also expected to remain an important figure for the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon as they prepare for upcoming continental competitions.
