Mayflower Private School, Ikenne won both male and female categories of the 3rd Remo Secondary School Chess Championship.
The Championship which began on Saturday, December 3, 2022 with the First Round ending on Sunday, December 4, with the final matches for both male and female categories.
In the male category, Nlebedim Ikenna of Mayflower Private School, Ikenne won the gold medal ahead of Adeleke Jesutofunmi of Remo Secondary School, Sagamu who won the silver medal and Akinmutimi Oluwatomigba of Mayflower Private with bronze medal.
Mayflower Private’s Hassan Aminat won the gold medal in the female category.
Alakija Ayomide of Makun High School, Sagamu took the silver medal while Osinubi Temiloluwa of Mayflower Private won the bronze medal.
The event was graced by the likes of Ogun State Commisioner for Education, Science, and Technologies; Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, Alhaji Engineer Ladi Oguneye, amongst other dignitaries.
Presentation of medals, trophies, certificates and prizes was conducted by the guests presents at the event.
The 3rd Remo Secondary Schools Chess Championship was organised by Masters Club of Nigeria.
The Championship is aimed at taking the game of chess to Secondary Schools in Remoland with chess club across the schools.
