Marou Souaibou’s Orlando Pirates have been crowned Nedbank Cup champions(SA’s premier club soccer knockout tournament)following a 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United in the final that took place at the Loftus Versfeld this Saturday.
Having joined the South African giants this season, Souaibou earns his very first title with the club who are grabbing it for the ninth time, though watched the game from the stands as he was not included in the squad for the final clash.
The 22-year-old Indomitable Lion has managed to play just five games since he arrived the club from Cotonsport of Garoua in November 2022.
This win for his club means they have now added to their 35 trophies across all competitions.
Souaibou and his teammates have also won their ticket to the CAF Champions League. The club is officially qualified for the most prestigious inter-club competition on the continent after finishing 2nd in the South African championship far behind the reigning champion, Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Cameroonian striker and former captain of Cotonsport of Garoua will play in the African Champions League next season if he stays put.
