  • Sadio Mané has been ruled out of Senegal’s next games against the DRC and Mauritania due to a serious injury involving his biceps femoris and lateral gastrocnemius
  • The Senegalese football Federation (FSF) also reports that Arouna Sanganté is under medical observation for calf pain, with his match fitness yet to be determined

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has confirmed that star forward Sadio Mané will be sidelined for the upcoming fixtures against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Mauritania due to injuries sustained to the aponeurosis of his biceps femoris and lateral gastrocnemius.

Mané, who reported to the national squad experiencing discomfort in his right knee, was subjected to medical evaluations on June 2, 2024.

The examinations disclosed a significant injury to the aponeurosis of his biceps femoris and lateral gastrocnemius, necessitating a recovery period inclusive of rest and medical treatment. Consequently, Mané will be absent from the forthcoming pair of matches, a situation that poses a significant challenge for the Senegalese squad, given his pivotal role in their offensive lineup.

Renowned for his agility and scoring prowess, Mané’s absence is a considerable setback for the team during these pivotal encounters.

In related news, the FSF has also reported that Arouna Sanganté is currently experiencing calf discomfort. Sanganté is under close medical observation, with his condition being regularly evaluated to ascertain his participation in impending games.

The Senegalese team is set to host DR Congo on Thursday at 8 pm at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade and will face Mauritania on the following Sunday, June 9. Preparations are ongoing, with new players integrating into the squad, familiarizing themselves with the Teranga Lions’ ethos and strategies. The Teranga Lions lead Group B with four points.
