The 20 year-old, midfield prodigy Carlos Baleba Noom Quomah is reveling in his inaugural senior team call-up as they prepare for the World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Angola.

The Brighton midfielder addressed the media on Monday following the squad’s initial training session:

“It’s a dream come true to make my first appearance with the national team. Wearing the green, red, and yellow fills me with immense pride. The team has welcomed me warmly, and there’s a palpable sense of excitement among us all,” he shared.

“Our goal is clear: to triumph in the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches and make the nation proud.”

“The pride and anticipation I’m experiencing are akin to any young player’s dream of representing their country. It’s an honor to be part of this team,” he added.

Baleba, a former EFBC standout, has been touted as Cameroon’s future star. His performance in the English Premier League this season has been nothing short of remarkable, with 27 appearances to his name. He was voted player of the month of April for Brighton.

Previously hesitant to commit to international play, Baleba had declined calls from the national team, even amidst efforts by the previous coaching regime led by Rigobert Song.

If leveraged effectively, Baleba could prove to be a significant boon for the Indomitable Lions’ midfield, potentially filling a defensive gap the team has sought to bridge for years.
