The Indomitable Lions have arrived in Garoua ahead of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros, receiving a warm welcome from a large crowd of passionate supporters.
Cameroon’s delegation was greeted by an impressive gathering of fans as the team arrived in the northern city, underlining the excitement surrounding the Lions’ return to competitive action and their quest to qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
The squad began assembling in Yaoundé on Monday before making the trip to Garoua, where they will face Comoros at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium on Thursday, September 24. Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm.
The match will be David Pagou’s first competitive assignment as head coach of the Indomitable Lions. With limited preparation time, the coach and his technical staff have been working to establish their tactical approach and prepare the team for a difficult opening fixture.
Cameroon are in Group G alongside Comoros, Namibia and Congo. The Lions will be aiming to make the most of home advantage against Comoros before travelling to Brazzaville for their second qualifier against Congo on September 29.
For now, the attention is firmly on Garoua, where the Lions have already received a powerful reminder of the expectations surrounding the national team. The large crowd that welcomed the players will now hope to see Cameroon respond with a winning start when the Lions take on Comoros on Thursday.
