Guinness Super League champions in waiting Lekie Filles of Yaounde could complete the job on Tuesday if they beat outgoing champions Awa Filles in the derby and Eclair lose away to high-flying Authentic Ladies.
Lekie have a nine points gap on closest chasers Eclair of Sa’a and could make it 12 points with four games to go if they win and Eclair lose.
Coach Stephane Ndzana’s Lekie currently have 44 points while Eclair have 35 points. Coach Francis Koloko’s girls from Sa’a could get up to 47 points after the scenario above but can’t go above Lekie because the latter has a super particular head-to-head situation having won one of their two meetings this season by 4-2 and suffered a 1-2 defeat in the other.
Lekie points tally from from 17 games as a result of 14 wins and two draws has made it great second season in the big time. It looks like its only a matter of time before Marie Gissele Ngah Manga, Raissa Nanga and co get the club’s first-ever silverware.
Should Lekie be crowned champions it will be deserving given that they have been the most consistent side in the championship this season, losing just two games.
Which ever club wins the 2022/23 Guinness Super League championship will represent Cameroon in the zonal tournament of the CAF Champions League.
