Kenyan double golden medalist David Rudisha survives plane crash

33-year-old two time Kenyan Olympic gold medalist, David Rudisha survived a plane crash on Saturday,December 10,2022,in Kajiado in Southern Kenya. Rudisha and his team were returning to Nairobi after attending Maasai Olympics, at the Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary when the small airplane crash-landed.

Rudisha, who won two Olympic gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 800 meters, was unharmed. Another occupant, former 800-meter runner Stephen Ole Marai, was treated for rib injuries. Other survivors were treated for minor injuries at a hospital and discharged.

Reacting on his tweeter page, the 800 meters star, recounted the dreadful ordeal;

“He (the pilot) saw a clear space, where he tried to land the plane. But one of his wings hit a tree, as the plane started to spin before landing on the rocky surface”.

“The pilot did an amazing job of keeping the plane afloat, and stable for a long time. We thank God,l am safe”. He concluded.

It is not the first accident to be witnessed by the towering African athlete. In 2019 , Rudisha survived a car accident in Kenya, when his car had a tyre puncture and collided with a bus.
