Josephine Ndoumou Mike, the head of Amazon FAP says her side’s 1-0 win against FC Ebolowa on match day 13 of the Guinness Super League is more or less of revenge.
FC Ebolowa inflicted a 2-0 defeat on the 2022 vice champions in the first phase of the championship but on Saturday in Odza FAP made life tougher for their visitors.
“It was a kind of revenge because they beat us in the reversed fixture,” Mike said.
Suzie Mbiandji scored the lone goal for FAP six minutes into the second segment and held on to earn the three points.
The latest win is FAP’s fifth in 12 games this season though they remain on the 8th spot with 16 points.
The recent form of four wins in last five outings has dragged them further away from the relegation zone. They could have been ranked higher but it’s not so for reasons Mike puts a finger on.
“It’s true that we had a very bad start in the first half of the season, but the girls recovered. We hope it will be like that till the end of the championship.
“From the start we wanted to be among the contenders, so this is just a continuation. There is nothing new.”
FAP’s slow start of the season put them out of the title race as they are 15 points from runaway leaders Lekie Filles who face Fortuna this Sunday.
