Firebrand consultant Hermine Mayi has recommended Rigobert Song returns to school to improve his knowhow as a coach following a series of unsatisfactory results during his time as head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The lady noted for her outspoken nature made the declaration on Monday evening during a flagship News program on Equinox TV, ‘Equinox Soir’.

“Rigobert Song must go back to studies. I mean no insults when I say this. We employed a coach that lacks the capacity to tell a player he wouldn’t be fielded,” Mayi explained on the Popular Television at a time Cameroonians are divided about Song’s future but unanimous his performances have been poor.

Song replaced Antonio Conceicao Da Silva Oliveira in February 2022 but has only registered three wins in 12 games as coach of the Indomitable Lions, losing five and recording a draw in four.

Mayi noted for her firm stance says the results are not a fluke.

“I observed him during his time as coach of the Intermediate Lions, it wasn’t any different,” the former STV Cameroon consultant added.

Song created huge excitement on arrival when he masterminded qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after a shock win against Algeria.

Unfortunately, results after that have been unsatisfactory, thus explaining the popular scrutiny especially after the defeat and draw against Namibia in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this month.

Song has lasted 13 months on the job as coach of Cameroon and is part of a Samuel Eto’o initiated emergency meeting that happened this Thursday in Yaounde to discuss the collective low experienced by various Cameroon national teams at the moment.
