Fagnia Fagnia Fernandez has lamented Authentic Ladies’ commute down to Yaounde, attributing it to pitch conditions and weather after his side’s defeat to FC Ebolowa Ladies.
Authentic Ladies lost their fourth consecutive Guinness Super League away game on Monday thanks to goals from Bernardette Meyegue and Reinette Abega in each half at the synthetic pitch FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.
After the defeat, Fagnia was quick to point the blame for the defeat at the nature of the pitch and weather conditions, stating his team never trained or played on a synthetic pitch.
“Today’s defeat is because of climatic and pitch conditions. From the start of the season, my girls have never played on a synthetic pitch. This also matters in football. We still have nine games left, we will continue working,” coach Fagnia told the media after the game.
Coach Fagnia’s side have struggled on their travels this season, especially in Yaounde where they have only won one of their away games this campaign.
Authentic Ladies failed to build on their 3-1 win against Louves in their last outing before the trip to Yaounde.
The defeat leaves the Douala-based club on 23 points and on the fifth spot ahead of their next outing against second-placed Eclair of Sa’a on a date yet to be announced.
