Guinness Super League: Day Five Match preview

Matchday five of the 2022/23 Guinness Super league have been announced for this weekend in the country’s Capital and economic capital city.

The Day five fixture starts in Yaounde at 1:30pm pitting current 5th placed FC Ebolowa and Last but one side, Caiman FC of Douala(2012-13 champions)who are yet to record a win since the start of the championship. These two sides met in the same competition last year and FC Ebolowa walked away with all three points. FC Ebolowa will be hoping to continue their three game unbeaten run.

Unbeaten league leaders Lekie FF will take on time time title holders, Louves Minproff at 3:30pm, in the other game programmed at the Olembe annex A stadium. Minproff sits 7th on the classification table and will go against a side who boast of unarguably the best attack so far in the ongoing championship.

In Yaounde still, Eding Sport ladies will go against Eclair of Sa’a at the Ngoa-Ekelle stadium, slated for 1pm. Eding are third on the table and will oppose Eclair who have won two games, drawn one and lost one.

Guinnessico match will be decided by last season finalists, Amazone FAP against defending champions, AS Awa who haven’t been so favored in defending their title as they have managed to win just two of the four games and succumbed to two defeats. Meanwhile one time winner FAP, is yet to record a win, failing to do so in four consecutive games. AS Awa beat FAP 3-2 to emerge champions of the 2021/2022 Guinness Super league season. Recall that in the 2017-18 season where AS Awa emerged champion still, AS FAP were runner up.

The lone game on Sunday has been reserved for former league leaders, Authentic FC and Ngadeu FFA who occupy the 9th position on the classification table. Authentic are second in command in the 12 team competition having recorded three wins and one draw. Ngadeu on the other hand are debutants who gained promotion to the women’s top flight champions this season, becoming the first team from the Adamawa region to represent in the Guinness Super League.

As it stands,Lekie and Authentic are the two teams yet to be beaten . Meanwhile, Caiman Filles, Amazone Fap and Ngadeu will go into this day five encounter hoping to wake up from slumber and get a first three points.

Highest title holders(7) Canon, is no where to be found in this competition since day one.
