Kameni Alice Flora scored a brace while Bernadette Meyegue got the other goal as aspiring 2023/24 Guinness Super League champions FC Ebolowa anhiliated AS Awa Filles FC 3-0 this Sunday in a delayed match day 21 fixture at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.
All eyes were this particular fixture on Sunday after rivals Lekie Filles moved temporarily to the too of the table with the win against Ita Mbong. Attention was on Kameni before kick off after she hit the 20 goal mark last weekend and was expected to carry her side again.
The Cameroon international didn’t disappoint but it all started through her strike partner Bernadette Meyegue. Meyegue put the host ahead two minutes into the game and Kameni doubled the lead just before the pause.
Awa players bickered with each other at half-time and allowed Kameni to add a third soon after the restart to put the game to bed. The game ended 3-0 in favour of FC Ebolowa who regained top spot in the championship with 53 points as second-placed Lekie Filles.
Kameni counts 22 goals this season and look certain to win the golden boot with relative ease after a remarkable debut campaign.
Oudou Kpoumie’s girls are still unbeaten in all competitions this season and could become the first club in the Guinness Super League era to win the domestic title without losing a game.
FC Ebolowa could win the league next weekend to cap a remarkable transformation for the club since Oudou took over as coach two seasons ago.
The South Region club in just its third season in the top-flight is on the brink of history as a win for them and Lekie Filles will seal the crown on head-to-head basis.
That momentum carried into this season, with the signings of Kameni, Marie Claire Kibinde and co all acclimatising to the South Region club with ease and playing crucial roles on their way to the submit of women’s football in the country.
