  • Authentic Ladies FC have the best defense in this season’s competition
  • The club only conceded five goals this season which is their best after nine games since their promotion three years ago
  • The club has kept a record five clean sheets in the championship so far

Authentic Ladies FC of Douala beat hosts Ita Mbong of Nkambe 1-0 to move up to he second spot in the 2023/24 Guinness Super League championship.

Usual suspect, Kiki Meva scored the lone goal of Thursday’s encounter at the University of Bamenda stadium in Bambili to ensure the girls from Douala get their sixth victory in nine outings this season.

The tight contest provided enough entertainment but Meva was its heroine as her fifth goal for her new club ensured Ngole Chelsea kept her fourth clean sheet and Authentic Ladies’ fifth this season.

The hos failed to take their chances especially in the first segment as they shot wide instead of testing Ngole that had a relatively relaxed afternoon.

The clubs cancelled out each other during the opening 45 minutes – the only talking points were the visitors unexploited corners.

Authentic Ladies dominated proceedings during most of the second segment and had their reward in the end.

In the presence of her mother, the visiting skipper, Tim Shalom layed one on the plate for her forward colleague and Meva did the rest.

The 83rd minute goal didn’t get a reply, thus fetching another three points for Authentic.

The win takes the Littoral outfit to the second spot with 20 points, five points behind current league leaders FC Ebolowa who beat Caiman 5-0 in their own match day nine encounter.

Authentic Ladies return to Douala to prepare for their next game against Caiman Filles on Wednesday at a venue to be declared by the league management body.
