Gov Diri appoints GWR holder SSA

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has appointed a ball joggler, Tonye Solomon, as a Senior Special Assistant and an Ambassador of the state.

Governor Diri made the appointment while speaking at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Thursday, August 31, 2023 shortly after the weekly jogging exercise tagged prosperity walk.

Tonye Solomon, fondly called De ball joggler, set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) Pfor the most steps climbed on a ladder while balancing a football (soccer ball) on the head.

Solomon set the new record when he climbed 150 steps on a telecommunications mast along Hospital Road in Yenagoa on Thursday, August 10, 2023. To give credence to the achievement, the event was monitored by a representative of GWR, Mr. Chukwuebuka Ezugha.

The feat of the talented ball joggler was confirmed on Thursday, August 24, in a statement by GWR which read in part: “The most steps climbed on a ladder while balancing a football (soccer ball) on the head is 150, and was achieved by Tonye Solomon, in Yenagoa, Nigeria, on 10 August 2023″.

Following the confirmation of Solomon’s feat, GWR formally handed over the certificate of recognition to the proud young man in Yenagoa, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

In a congratulatory message in his Twitter handle on Thursday, August 31, the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, said, “Such a great feat is inspiring, and it’s worth celebrating. We are proud of you Champ!”
