The Intermediate Lions of Cameroon picked up a 2-1 win over Canon of Yaounde in a pre-CHAN friendly encounter on December 21 in Yaounde.

Being in Camp since December 12 at the CAF excellence center in Mbankomo, the boys of Coach Alioum Saidou have been their journey to the African Nations Championship scheduled for January next year in Algeria, on good footing.

Former PWD of Bamenda’s captain and now Eding sport de la Lekie’s Mbah Louis and Harrison Djonkep, scored the goals for the A’ Lions in this encounter.

It was the young Djonkep who opened scores for the Local Lions before Louis’ winning goal came in the second segment of the game.

Worth noting is the fact that both scorers are current players of Eding Sport de la Lekie and have been in fine form since the league last season which caught the attention of the Intermediate Lions coach.

In an Interview with Kick442.com, Mbah Louis expressed applauds the collective efforts of his teammates that earned them the victory.

“Scoring that goal was a booster for me to improve on my skills and this has urged me to work harder knowing this is just the beginning.”

“The Coach has chosen a very formidable squad which I think are the best in the country. The teamwork yesterday was class to think that we came from behind to win the game, giving that canon has a very good squad. Our coach for sure has a very good plan ahead of the Competition and I believe with the work put in place, we can make it to the finals of the CHAN.”

“The coach is a masterclass. Everyday at training we feel his impact, he ensures we always get a level of. His philosophy and inculcate it in our game. We put what he instructs into practice that is what earned up the victory.

“Playing in the National colours is a privilege and I know for sure the boys are hungry to make it big time out there that is why we are determined to bring home this trophy. We can do this for sure. I know we will,” he told Kick442.

This Pan African Sports platform understands another test match has been slated for Saturday, December 24, against a yet to be disclosed opponent.

Cameroon is drawn in group E of the upcoming African Nations Champions which kickstarts on January 13-February 4,2023 in Algeria.

The Intermediate Lions will go again Niger and Congo Brazzaville.
