Zamalek retains Title at 37th Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship

For the second consecutive year, Zamalek Giza has emerged as the champions of the Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship, held in Cairo.

Their victory was clinched through a gripping final against ten time champions Al Ahly, ending in a 3-2 scoreline, with Milca Lubieska da Silva leading the charge with a 20-point contribution.

This win has earned them the right to compete at December’s 2024 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.

Meanwhile, Cameroon’s contenders, Litto Team Volleyball Club and Mayo Kani Evolution, showed strong performances, but fell out of the top five , finishing at the 6th and 8th spots, respectively.

Kenya Pipeline claimed the bronze medal after a decisive win over Kenya Commercial Bank. The tournament, which ran from April 26 to May 4, featured 15 teams from 9 countries, showcasing the growing competitiveness in African volleyball.

The event was also marked by the recognition of Zamalek’s Mariam Metwally as the Most Valuable Player and the unveiling of the prestigious Dream Team dominated by players from the top three teams.
