Vincent Aboubakar resumes pre-season activities amidst departure rumours

The former FC Porto and Al Nasr forward is preparing for his fourth season at the club

Vincent Aboubakar, 32, has resumed pre-season training with the rest of the Beşiktaş J.K. squad despite rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

The Cameroon international who had been away in Cape Verde Islands for personal training was spotted in the Turkish capital on Monday as he completed his team mates in the regular activities guided by Dutch manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.

Aboubakar’s name has appeared in the transfer rumour mill on a number of occasions in the past few weeks and some sections of the media had even reported he won’t return to his current club as they had already decided to transfer him out alongside compatriot Jean Emile Onana who even resumed training before Aboubakar.

The return of Aboubakar could be an indication coach Giovanni is keen on keeping the point men to reap from his experience in the coming season as Beşiktaş hopes to improve on a dissatisfactory 2023/24 which saw them finish below everlasting rivals Galatasaray in the domestic championship and only win the Turkish Cup.

Beşiktaş is preparing for Europa League football plus the domestic championship and Cup next season while hoping to hit top gear and push their rivals to the extreme to give themselves a chance of being contenders in all fronts next season

Aboubakar, renowned for his dynamic play and decisive goal-scoring could be a pivotal figure for Beşiktaş as they endeavor to reclaim their contender status.

Aboubakar’s experience and knack for scoring in key moments render him an invaluable player for his team’s ambitions next term.

If he stays, it will be his fourth season at the club in three successful spells during he has always been a great performer.

Besides Aboubakar and Onana, the likes of Moumi Ngamaleu, Jean Pierre Nsame, Faris Moumbangna, Andre Onana, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa have all returned to their clubs for pre-season activities.
