Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Al Nassr striker Vincent Aboubakar has turned down the option to join French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille though he is keen on a return to central Europe.

According to kick442.com sources Marseille have genuine efforts to cause the 30-year-old leave Saudi Arabia, he turned down the move due to undisclosed reasons.

We understand Marseille officials sent an offer to their Al Nassr counterparts last week but the player was quick to reject the idea of moving to the Velodrome.

Our understanding is Aboubakar wants to move to central Europe but wasn’t excited by the Marseille project though he is listening to offers from elsewhere.

Aboubakar who provided an assist last night to help Al Nassr came from behind to hold Odion Ighalo’s Al Hilal moved the club in July 2021 on a two-year-deal.

Though he still has six months left in the current contract, he could be on his way out this window. A move away from Al Nassr will enable the club to cash in on him and give the ex Lorient and Valenciennes goal puncher somewhere to display his everlasting goal scoring ability which has taken him from Garoua to Riyadh, passing through Porto and Istanbul on two occasions.

Vincent Aboubakar, scorer of two goals for his country during the last FIFA World Cup is Cameroon’s third all time scorer with 35 goals from 95 caps. The former FC Porto lethal finisher has scored 99 club goals in 277 matches during a 12-year career that started at Cotonsport of Garoua.

His productivity in the final third has earned him a €5 Millions market value though he is in the twilight of his career.
