- The Indomitable Lions Supporters’ Association (PROMOCAM-CAMER) has demanded the immediate resignation of FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o and his executive
- They accuse the federation of alienating clubs, referees, and fans through mismanagement and divisive leadership, leading to fractured supporter groups and weakened team morale
- The association warns that without urgent leadership changes, Cameroonian football risks further decline and loss of its historic legacy as a unifying national force
The Indomitable Lions Supporters’ Association (PROMOCAM-CAMER), in a letter signed by its president Abolo Mbenti on April 24, has called for the resignation of Samuel Eto’o and his entire FECAFOOT executive, citing a string of failures that have left Cameroonian football in a state of crisis.
The supporters point to the national teams’ repeated failure to qualify for major international competitions, the absence of a youth league to develop future talent, and what they describe as the chaotic and divisive management style under the current FECAFOOT leadership.
They highlight ongoing complaints from club presidents across Elite One, Elite Two, and amateur divisions, as well as from referees at all levels, who accuse the federation of lack of transparency and poor governance.
The letter further criticizes the mismanagement of supporters during high-profile tournaments in Qatar and Ivory Coast, and the ongoing power struggles with the Ministry of Sports (MINSEP), which have left the technical bench unstable and the team’s preparations off balance.
According to the association, the once-united fan base is now fractured, with divisions emerging among supporters’ groups, undermining the collective spirit that has historically driven the Indomitable Lions’ success.
PROMOCAM-CAMER insists that the national team belongs to all Cameroonians, not to any individual or clique, and that the current executive’s disastrous management has plunged Cameroonian football into one of its darkest periods.
They demand a complete change at the top, warning that without Eto’o and his team stepping aside, the Indomitable Lions risk remaining stuck in a cycle of decline and division, unable to reclaim their place among Africa’s football elite
The Indomitable Lions supporters are not the first to demand a change at the helm of FECAFOOT. Over the past year, several major stakeholders—including the Association of Amateur Football Clubs in Cameroon (Acfac) and a coalition of nearly 25 professional clubs—have publicly called for Samuel Eto’o and his executive to resign, citing chaotic management, allegations of favoritism, match-fixing scandals, and a lack of transparency
Even within FECAFOOT itself, high-profile resignations and internal dissent have highlighted growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership, making it clear that calls for a new executive have been both widespread and persistent across the Cameroonian football community.
