Cote D’Ivoire’s Sébastien Romain Teddy Haller could become the second player to win the Africa Cup of Nations and the UEFA champions League this weekend if he pilots Borussia Dortmund to win against Real Madrid in the 2024 final.

Haller who has played a peripheral role in Dortmund’s running to the final scored the winner against Nigeria earlier this year to help the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire to a third triumph in the AFCON.

This Saturday the 29-year-old will be rooting for his club’s second UEFA Champions League crown in the prestigious competition as they enter their third final hoping to stunt the record champions who have simply been fantastic this term.

Haller who has scored once in just three appearances in this season’s competition endured a similar situation during the AFCON, but when it mattered most like this Saturday against Real Madrid, he was on hand to ensure the coveted trophy stays in the country of the Elephants.

Geremi’s triumph with Cameroon during the 2002 AFCON tournament in Mali set the ball rolling in an unforgettable year in which Real Madrid beat German side Bayer Leverkusen to secure another crown for Spanish football.

Geremi didn’t feature in the final but played a part before the day Zenedine Zidane and Raul Gonzalez scored for the Merengues in a night Lucho’s goal for Bayer Leverkusen wasn’t enough to prevent the 1-2 defeat at the Hampden Park in Glasgow.
