CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Second Round match between African champions, Banyana Banyana (South Africa) and DR Congo in Congo was reportedly in jeopardy.

A strike within the DR Congo women’s national team has brought the game slated to take place today (Wednesday) in jeopardy.

The players are claiming their unpaid bonuses from the double confrontation against Benin during the first round of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 qualifiers.

They boycotted training sessions on Tuesday and promised to continue the strike.

Players also threatened to boycott the match on Wednesday, October 25 against South Africa.

However, the game is still expected to go ahead at this moment.

Scenarios of players’ strikes as a result of payments of allowances is no new development in African football especially from the women’s side.

The issue is not only peculiar to women’s football alone as men also share similar experiences.
